Origins

The origin story of Cortex

Cortex is a project I started researching in high school, and for a few years it was essentially the only project I was focused on. It's a project that has influenced me a lot and its ideals have been kept in mind in every other project I've worked on so far. This is the story of how my interest in organizing my online life began, how that led to me starting Cortex, and the history of the project thusfar.

WebDeck

When I was in middle school I went to two summer coding programs, one at Flatiron School for web development and one at Make School for mobile app development, that really kicked off my interest in programming. At these summer programs, we'd have to create projects to demo and at one of them I created a project called WebDeck where a user would connect different apps and see a dashboard with an at-a-glance overview of their day. For example you could see music you've listened to recently, top news headlines, your calendar, etc. I continued this project for a bit(eg. making a mobile app for it at Make School, and even bringing it up in a TEDx talk!) and it got me really interested in this idea of why it wasn't easier to connect your apps in one place and manipulate its data.
